OHV Recreation
Grant Program
The Florida
Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS), Division
of Forestry (DOF) has started their Request For Proposals for the
T. Mark Schmidt Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Grant Program (BID
NUMBER RFP/DF-06/07-09). These grants are made available from the
funds generated by the fees we pay for titling our OHVs. The best
way to use these grants is to get a local government (like the Parks
and Recreation Department) to get involved; they will not get involved
unless FTR members go down to that department and work with them
to generate interest. These funds have been made available to promote
our sport and will go unused if properly developed grants are not
received by the deadline!
- Proposals
must be received by FDACS purchasing office by 2:30 p.m., September
14, 2006.
- There are
5 grant categories
Planning, Research, and Design of New OHV Recreation Areas, Trails
or Facilities (maximum of $75,000 per grant)
- Construction
of New OHV Recreation Areas, Trails or Facilities (maximum of
$200,000 per grant)
- Repair,
Maintenance, Rehabilitation and Protection of Existing OHV Areas,
Trails or Facilities (maximum of $150,000 per grant)
- Rider Education,
Safety and Training Programs (maximum of $50,000 per grant)
- Acquisition
of Lands to be Included in the System (maximum based on amount
of funds available).
