Night Ride
«
on:
September 04, 2010, 10:23:49 PM »
We just had a totally awesome night ride. Over 70 riders joined the ride and it was so cool to look back and see the 'headlight snake' through the trails. A million thank yous to everyone that worked so hard to make the ride a success and to get the camp house set up for snacks at the end-Colon and Shawna and all the guys and girls in the orange vests-everyone was wonderful. Looking forward to the next two days and hopefuly we can plan more nights like tonight. Loving being a part of the club. Go DFMR!

It definitely was a loooong trail of quads for sure. After the trail ride intermission at the cabin, the kids had one heck of a sugar rush after demolishing all those bags of marshmallows and that sweet tea hit the spot. I was 7th in line, 1st orange vest, and a small hog ran out and clipped the front tire of the lady behind me. We saw him rooting, didnt think he would run between the line. We saw a large group of hogs wallowing in a mud hole yesterday morning on a trail ride as well.
It was a great weekend and the zip line for cooling off between trail rides is on spot. There are now 2 excellent FAMILY riding parks in Florida. I hope this trend continues.
We had genny problems all weekend and honestly had more offers of help than I could expect. Geno thanks for keeping me sane when frustrating things like this happen & offering to remove one of your batteries to put in my hauler, and Frankie, thanks for letting me borrow your jump starter sooo many times.
Colon, thank you very much for having my family at your park. We had a great time and honestly never once felt unsafe. Sorry for all the dirt my son displaced on your mx & circle track
but he burned a tank of fuel per day on those tracks. I know people worry that trucks are allowed in there, but they are so far away and kept in their own area it was a non issue.
The trails are endless, one way, technical woods and flat long straits & the creek crossings were fun too. I see some possibilities for a GNCC or FTR race at your park. Let us know if ya want to have a trail cutting day and my boy and I will bring the chainsaw and machetes.
Met a lot of nice people from this forum also, sorry I forget names since I hit 40 I caught this illness called CRS.
We will be back again.

Frankie and Carissa had to "count heads" as everyone was returning from the night ride to be assured everyone made it back. I think he said there were 102 people doing the ride.
Steve.....I had absolutely no problems helping you with the gen!!!!!Reminded me of you and I at Motoplex when you had the fuel pump problem...lol
What was funny about the night ride is that I was the leader and after we rested just for a few minutes at the powerlines Chad had to tow me to the camphouse......those RZR's are bad on batteries when the lights are on!!

I think the night ride may have been the highlight of the whole weekend. Everyone was talking about how awesome it was. Of course, you know all the girls want to cook (from the store is fine, too) and have a picnic or dinner one night after a ride like that (it would take the burden off of the DFMR staff too if everyone that participate in the ride brought something). Goggles are definitely the FIRST shopping priority before our next trip out. It was rough on the trails with just glasses LOL. With that many quads (and one 6-wheel PUG LOL) there's a lot of dust and quite a bit of grass up in the air!
Geno, thanks for leading us out.
You did a GREAT job!

Ya I was thinking we need to put a bug in DMFR's ear for a spooky night ride Sat the 30th I'm not sure if we should ride our atv's or do a couple of tractors with trailers filed with hay so the quads don't have heating problems and you'd enjoy it more just sitting back with your family enjoying the ride or should I say the scary ride. If you think this might be a good idea or you have something better lets send it to DMFR to see what they might think. I'll dress my RZR up for a contest if we can.lol Hope to see you in a few weeks if you can make that weekend. I promise to take you for a ride in my submarine. lol

I mentioned to Colon before we left that it would be cool to have something similar to the poker run but instead of poker chip stations we have candy/trick-or-treat stations and the entry fee for a family to participate would be one bag of candy. That way DFMR wouldn't be footing the bill. I would love to "man" one of the stations and take pictures of the little ones all dressed up (and probably some big ones too, knowing this crowd).
I'd be happy to help!

Ever since I bought my Ranger 2200 Bay, my quads have only been gathering dust. They give the boat the evil eye everytime I pull it back into the warehouse.
Sounds like a cool riding spot. Maybe the Fool's crew will have to check it out. Of course, everybody will just have to guess if I'm there or not.

We also had a great time with the night ride, enjoyed the stop where we could have refreshments & deserts. We really met a lot of great people over the weekend and can't wait for the next big event.

dont know the name we just end up there it was a nice spot a cop showed us so we wouldnt be a bother and he was the only 1 on duty in the area at the time, Very nice guy we were with the kids and all and promised him we would leave it as we parked there wth no garbage. We even got a little nite ride in and his replacement came out there told us the officer told him about us and he would not mind as long as we stayed off the streets and didnt litter. Buddy I wish I would have gotten there name cause they were the nicest guys (cops) I have met ever. and we were about 15 or more bikes. Klutchbuster, his dad, Thrumud back in the day as some others I will not mention haha
