26  General / Group Rides & Events / Re: Wanna ride Wellborn this weekend? on: November 20, 2005, 08:16:59 PM
We just got back from our ride. We had a blast.
Big tires do not mean that you wont get stuck! I tried to cross the creek and it swallowed up the Polaris. lots of mud out there. Mud is the best part.
I got the front end loader back there and started digging and got it stuck. It is alot of work making trails but it was alot of fun too. I hope some of you come out and ride sometime. I bet 4 or 5 bikes out there on an afternoon would really break in the trails.
We never made it to the clay pits and the dog is still lost out there somewhere.  Larry

Wellborn is located 9 miles west of Lake city. Not to many people know where it is. It is a small town off the main highway about a mile. Larry
29  General / Where to Ride? / Wanna ride Wellborn Sunday? on: November 19, 2005, 08:22:10 AM
My neighbor and I were going to take the quads out this weekend and just wanted to see if anyone else would like to join?
I have recently purchased 30 acres of heavily wooded land on a creek in Wellborn and would like to start making some trails. I have a front end loader to and would like to get some digging ideas from some other riders. Who knows, maybe we could dig some deep mud ruts or pits to run in. I have a charcoal grill down there with plenty of steaks to put on it for lunch.
I just thought it would be cool to meet some other people from the area that have atvs and like to get out on the weekends and scout out new places to ride.
we could ride from my place down the tracks to the clay pits after a while. I just put a lift kit on the Polaris with some new mud tires Ive been wantin to try out.
Reply if you want to meet up this weekend. Larry

31  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Suwannee River Management opens Swamps to ATVs on: July 01, 2005, 08:52:32 AM
It appears that all you need is a day permit. It doesn't say anything about paying.

GSPKurt I talked to the wife and she wants to go to. We have decided to take our boating day at the Suwannee River monday and turn it into an ATV day at Mallory Swamp. We are ready to go explore the unknown Swamps of Lafayette County. Larry
32  General / Where to Ride? / Suwannee River Management opens Swamps to ATVs on: June 29, 2005, 08:00:50 PM
Just thought I'd let everyone know that the Suwannee River Management District has opened up over 60,000 acres of Mallory Swamp to ATVs today! This is great news for north central Floridians with atvs. Here is the link.

That was easy. I found a pic of Kurt.
35  General / Group Rides & Events / Re: Anyone going to Big Scrub Sat. 4/16? on: April 17, 2005, 07:07:59 PM
Sorry people. I don't have any pictures of Kurt.
My wife saw these pictures and said she wished she had went with us. I wish she had went to.
Kurt, I will be looking forward to watching you break in that new bike in some mud later on. That bike just looks too new. There isn't a scratch or splash of mud on it. I have a picture of Josh riding that mud hole attached here but not sure how to get it in the text like you did with my picture. Check it out.
Lets try Scrambletown next time. Larry

I think we did about 30 miles. We went to Blue Sink.  We saw those jeeps at the gas station in Weirsdale and figured they were going out there. Saw a few rainbow people out there.
Over all we had a great time.
37  General / Group Rides & Events / Re: Anyone going to Big Scrub Sat. 4/16? on: April 16, 2005, 06:04:29 AM
everyone seems to park around camp but the best trail riding is out away from camp. Hope to see everyone there. I will be riding a red 05 Polaris sportsman. I have never been to Blue sink. I think I'm going to try and find it with my gps. If anyone wants to meet there around 1:30 GPSKurt and I will be grillin some steaks and have a few extra if anyones hungry.
38  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Riding in Jasper Fl on: April 14, 2005, 02:16:23 PM
I went up the Alapaha river last weekend in a 26 ft cabin cruiser boat and the depth sounder was saying 25'-30' deep. This river is really flooded. Thats the only way we could ever get a boat of this size in there. The Suwannee River is running anywere between 35'-55' deep. Suwannee River management is saying it could be 45 days before river levels drop back to normal if it stops raining today. This water really sucks for me as a river property owner. They have got a no wake rule in effect now for all the north Florida rivers from the Georgia border south to the Gulf.
It might be next year before we get to do any riding out there.
39  General / Group Rides & Events / Re: Anyone going to Big Scrub Sat. 4/16? on: April 14, 2005, 08:21:53 AM
Kurt,
Those Magma grills are nice. I want to get one for my boat. If you have the mounting hardware for it to attach to the 1" tubing then we could put it on my handlebar when we were ready to use it. Just a thought.
Or I have a small Weber charcoal grill if we still felt like grillin out.  Larry
40  General / Group Rides & Events / Re: Anyone going to Big Scrub Sat. 4/16? on: April 13, 2005, 07:45:52 PM
Kurt,
I went to Ocala Motor Sports today and put the heat on. They said they would start repair on my Polaris Thursday and I could pick it up on Friday. I will be ready to go for Saturday. My wife said she may go to.
Do you have one of those portable coleman gas grills? Maybe from your boat? If you have one then I'm going to bring some Filet Mignon steaks and chicken titties for lunch. I have a small charcoal grill but a gas one is easier to use and we wouldn't have to carry charcoal and lighter fluid with us.
I hope your ready to break in that new bike with some swamp ridin like the pictures I see on this website.
Anyone else wanna go?
41  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Ticketed on your own property??? on: April 06, 2005, 09:37:32 PM
Hey guys, there was a similar situation a few weeks ago printed on the front page of the Ocala Star Banner newspaper. A family in Belleview has an atv track on their 5 acres for the kids to ride then a New York family moves into their newly built home next door and complains about the kids riding and all the dust its creating and ruining their property value. They have called law enforcement several times telling them that they feel they are a prisoner in their own home because of the riding next door. These people have lived here in the woods for the last 15 years. The newspaper states that Marion county officials cannot enforce riding of atvs on private property so they are instead going to create a noise ordinance to deal with loud atvs and dirt bike riding on private property. Too many complaints of these bikes being a nuisance. My wife is a waitress and waits on one of the county code enforcement officials and he told her that they are indeed working on this issue.
A week after hearing this I decided to bring in the heavy equipment and start digging some pits. My back yard now looks like a mining quarry. I was thinking that if Marion county decided to have a say so about atv tracks then I would be grandfathered in. To many polititians and their bullcrap have made us think about moving to north Florida far away from anyone.
42  General / Where to Ride? / Re: where to ride around new port richey? on: March 20, 2005, 06:20:00 PM
There is a place behind the 7 eleven across the street from Lowes. I forget the name of the streets there because I'm from Ocala but Go back the street behind 7 eleven and turn right at the 1st street and take it till it dead ends and you will see the trail leading in. Its a cool place to ride with some mud and a creek. You really need a 4 wheel drive atv to venture in very far. I liked this place and there were other people there the day I went that I had to pull out of the mud. Have fun.

45  General / Open Discussion / Re: ATV Pull sled competition? on: March 13, 2005, 06:33:30 PM
Chuck, I have seen those high performance lawn mowers at my hometown County Fair in Canton, Ohio when I was a kid. I wish I could have seen them pull but my father didn't want to stay for them. I have always wanted to build a V8 lawn tractor. Nowadays I think I'd rather have a pull sled for my ATV. Its a full pull! I think its a cool sport whatever your using to pull with.
46  General / Open Discussion / ATV Pull sled competition? on: March 11, 2005, 05:35:21 PM
Does anyone in Florida have a pulling competition for atv's? I would like to hook up to a pull sled with my Polaris. The guy that owns the weld shop down the road from me said he could build a sled for $6000. I think it sounds cool and would really like to have one but I aint got six grand layin around for a project like this right now. Granted my atv cost more than that but I get to make payments on it. If a couple of us got involved in a project like this we could probably pay for it rather quickly charging an entry fee to the contestants. We could tow the sled to different locations on the weekend and get everyone involved. Have a 2 and 4 wheel drive class. Do I sound crazy? I would like to see what some of your thoughts on this idea would be. Larry
47  General / Where to Ride? / Anyone ride Scrambletown? on: March 09, 2005, 07:12:03 PM
Anyone here ever ride Scrambletown area? My wife and I went riding with a friend in Scrambletown (ONF) a few weeks ago. My wife agrees with me that Scrambletown is some of the best senic riding we have seen yet in the Ocala or north central Florida area. We rode through black swamps, clear water ponds, creek beds and miles of trails that follow along the Ocklawaha River banks. There was a mud bog race that day at one of the swamps we came up on. I could not get my Polaris stuck. We really had a good time that day and want to go back soon. If anyone would like to make plans to go with us just let me know. This place is worth sharing. Who knows, I may have been sleeping while everyone out here has rode this place before. We were glad to have got to spend the day there.  Larry

A friend of mine told me there are miles of trails out there that he rides occasionally. I would like to check it out sometime. Anyone wanna go?
49  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Riding in Jasper Fl on: March 09, 2005, 06:45:58 PM
I drove buy last Sunday and the water is still to high. Ive been looking forward to riding here for the first time. Instead I drove over to Dowling Park and rode the Suwannee River levy and the old railroad bed. It was fun but the Alapaha River bed looks to be alot more my style. Since I just bought Suwannee River property I would hate to see a dry river bed but it only needs to be dry for a weekend so I can go riding. Cant wait. Larry
50  General / Open Discussion / Re: Newbies in Summerfield (Ocala) Hello everyone on: February 28, 2005, 06:07:24 PM
Wow!! You people really make us feel welcome. We never expected so many of you to read this post let alone reply. Seems like most people would look right past the newbie post. Just tells us that there are some good people out there that care about other people and not just their self or their fast, big, expensive bikes. We are looking forward to some of the group rides and some of the short afternoon rides too.
We had company over last night and spent the evening watching the videos on this site. Unbeleivable to say the least. I didn't know my 4 wheeler could swim too. Did I pay extra for that option? My wife says shes not getting in above her floor boards. I got my swimming mask and snorkel out today. Lets go!
Do you guys or girls have Rv's? We just wondered if any of you like to travel with your bikes?
Have fun, be safe.  Larry
