Dude, 95 mph? I could see 10 over the speed limit but I believe 95 mph is a little rediculous. No, it's real rediculous. That's wreckless endangerment and in my opinion thoughtless. If I was the judge I'd suspend your license for at least 6 months so you'd think before you did it again. You act like this is no big deal and your the victim. Luckily you didn't kill somebody in your selfish trip to look at a truck.

I wanted to make sure she can ride her bike in Ocala after the certification. I wasn't sure if the age sticker was law or suggestion, but I do now. Thanks for the help.
103  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: What ATV's do your kids ride and is it the legal size on: December 09, 2008, 08:04:56 AM
Yeah but even if she get's the certificate she can't ride the 125 at Ocala.
104  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / What ATV's do your kids ride and is it the legal size on: December 09, 2008, 07:24:26 AM
I'm sure with Christmas coming up some are buying their kids a new 4 wheeler. My daughter is 12 and has a 125 Grizzly. She has had the same bike for 2 years. She's pretty tall for her age and when I took her to get a new bike she fit this one perfect.

When we 1st got the bike we went straight to ONF where she rode 2 up with me since she was 5. I had actually bought her a Baja 90 to learn on and she did well on that. I didn't just buy her the 125 and say go get it, so don't think that please. We still want to ride Ocala but she needs the safety course and now her bike is too big. If she rides an 80 I think it is for her age she will tower it and to me that will be more unsafe because she's too big. More consideration needs to be given to the ATV rules especially with these kids taking the course. I don't mind restricting her speed (we're not fast riders anyway) but I want her on what is safe for her height.
105  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Need Ocala Info on: December 08, 2008, 04:22:50 PM
Thinking about riding at Big Scrub or Delancey this weekend. I used to ride a lot at Scrub but with all the rules I gave up.

I have green stickers on the quads and registrations. Anything else you need?
Can you ride with a kid on your 4 wheeler if it's not a 2 up?
Where do the training classes take place?
106  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Trails at Big Scrub? on: October 13, 2008, 06:50:21 PM

You will have to pay the ONF fee.  It's $10 for a 3 day pass, or you can get an annual pass for $75.  I have the annual, but we go sometimes 2 weekends a month.

You can camp at Big Scrub and depart on your ATV from there, but you are not allowed to ride on ANY unmarked trails.  You must stay on the 40+ mile loops that the Rangers have designated.  I have been there several times, with and without large groups, and we have never had Ranger problems.  Then again, we try to follow most of the rules most of the time.  Do we haul ass?  Occasionally.  Do we do stuff that a ranger might not like?  Not while they are anywhere near so far.  So there ya have it.  Get the girl certified and I hope to see you out there!

Thanks for the info. Where do they do the training if you want to do it locally and quickly? We started riding in 03 at scrub and when all the ranger crap started we lost interest. Had some damned good times there. I'm hoping to get baby girl certified soon. Are the trails still wooped out? Is there a map like Delancy has online? Sorry for so many questions.
107  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Trails at Big Scrub? on: October 12, 2008, 09:51:10 PM
I was kinda wondering what's up down at Scrub. Can you still camp in the campground and ride out from there? I went one time last year after going 15 times a year for a few years. I'd really like to start ridin again down there but I don't wanna hear no crap from a ranger. I got my green stickers and all that. Just need to get my daughter certified.
108  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: Durhamtown May 2-4 on: May 04, 2008, 09:58:15 PM
We just got back this afternoon from some serious riding. Our butts are sore as hell lol. We got up at 0300 Friday and drove into DP around 10:00 a.m. Unloaded the bikes and after signing in we rode til around 4:30. The trails were dusty and bumpy but that ain't Mike's fault. They just haven't had the rain it takes to keep that clay moist. Pretty dead this weekend to be honest but it was nice having some quiet in the evening. We ate at the diner there last night. AYCE steak and veggies for $10 which included a drink and dessert. The prices went up a few bucks on the riding but who hasn't you know? Mike puts on a fair show up there and we enjoyed talking to him last night for a few minutes. We rented the foxtrot cabin and left the toy hauler at home. It saved us a tank of fuel and a lot of time going thru the small towns. We split the expenses 4 ways so it worked out really good for us. Hopefully we'll go back Dec. 27th for a couple days and enjoy some more riding. All I want for xmas is some rain up there lol.
109  General / Where to Ride? / Re: University of Florida Ocala Study on: May 04, 2008, 09:18:33 PM
I've ridden Scrub and Delancy for about 5 years and run into both kinds of rangers if you catch my drift. We mostly ride slow as I've got a daughter on a quad and not really into hauling butt, spinning donuts or any of the things they ask you not to do. I've seen a lot of abuse by people who don't care about anything but their fun and how they see fit to have it. I don't go as much as we used to but when we do we enjoy it and don't mind the rules as long as it's reasonable. By the way, you said you rode til 11:00. I thought you had only til 1.5 hours after sunset or has that changed? I guess it is about 8:30 or 9:00 when it get's dark so maybe you're not too late.
110  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Durhamtown May 2-4 on: April 28, 2008, 05:39:20 PM
Hey is anybody heading up to D-Town this weekend? We're going early Friday.
111  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: Another one gone! on: April 21, 2008, 09:43:14 PM
I really hate hearing about these accidents and I really hate the smartass remarks made along with them too. It doesn't take a genius to know that you should wear safety gear on atv's or any recreational vehicle. The kids who this happens to should have been made to wear the gear. Somebody has lost a child so have some sympathy no matter if it was careless or not. Personally if my daughter gets on her bike to move it 5 feet she better have her helmet on or her butts in trouble. I'm a firm believer in chewing some ass when safety is ignored. What kids don't understand is we make them wear this stuff because we care.
112  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: Renovations to trails @ Durhamtown! on: January 25, 2008, 03:30:17 PM
I've been to Durhamtown 3 times in a little over a year. Cat, Mike and all the people up there have treated us very well. We ride ute's and have never been messed with at all. Of course like Mike quoted, if you do things against the rules you'll be asked to leave. That's just common sense not to go off the trails and stuff. D-Town is a great place and I enjoy taking the family up there and enjoying the trails.
113  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: How to sell a quad that is not paid off?? on: January 12, 2008, 08:33:47 AM
Whatever you do make sure before the quad goes that it's out of your name with DMV as well. Just because you give someone a bill of sale or sign the title over doesn't mean it's not legally still in your name. I had a friend who sold a car like that and the girl hit someone else and he was responsible for all damages. Lost his license and all kinds of stuff because the people sued for like 400k.

Anytime I sell a vehicle or trailer I go to the tax collectors office and when we leave it's no longer mine in any way.
114  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: Going to Jennifer's house tomorrow on: December 18, 2007, 08:10:13 AM
I don't know Frank personally but I'm doubting he took any of the money. I thought it was supposed to be a cash donation as well. Even though it's nice the kids got all those presents it won't do them any good if they don't have a place to put them.

I suggest the next time we as a forum decide to do something like this we set up a bank acct. like you see when somebody loses a home to fire or a child get's hurt and the family needs money. That way it's all accounted for and there's no questions about who got what.

Let's please not get any nastier on this forum. I would hate to think jennifer would see this after all the good that was given last week.

115  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: Going to Jennifer's house tomorrow on: December 17, 2007, 01:05:04 AM
What was the total raised?

I saw this asked several times before the day of presenting her the check or funds. Why can't this be answered now? I think the people and businesses who gave would like to see what it ended up being.
116  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: Injured ATV'r needs our help on: December 06, 2007, 09:46:34 PM
I'm hoping her mortgage company will help her too. I noticed in the video of Jennifer on the news her mortgage co. was the same as mine. I'm negotiating my interest rate right now with them. I know Yunt2 will bash me. I'm trying not to refi right now because the market rate on my house has slipped about 20k. I'm trying not to add another 9k in closing fees on to my equity. They told me today as long as I'm paying my payment I have today they're willing to work with me for 2 more years. Just got to do a profit/loss statement and hope for the best. None of these lenders want the homes back. A realtor friend told me it costs them 50k to repo a home from the time they file legal papers to taking it over. The lady told me today they want me to stay as much as I do so they will help you. Hopefully this will put a ding in Jen's debt.
117  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: Injured ATV'r needs our help on: December 06, 2007, 06:13:25 PM
I sent Jen a cashiers check today. Add another name if you would 450. My breakfast club I meet up with a lot gave another $30 that I sent with mine. The group is Jax Beach Panera Breakfast Club.

118  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: Injured ATV'r needs our help on: December 05, 2007, 09:52:24 AM
Whatever you send through Paypal the full amount will go to Jennifer. I'm going to absorb all the PayPal fees.

If you send it Paypal under the service category there is no fee.
119  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Rode Ocala Trails Today on: December 04, 2007, 09:47:16 PM
I think we're going back Saturday morning. Probably going to park at Rodman as I wasn't too thrilled with the purple trail out to the others. Been a while since we've been over to pipeline and Hog Valley loops. Let me know if anybody want s to meet up.
120  General / Where to Ride? / Rode Ocala Trails Today on: December 02, 2007, 09:31:29 PM
Some buddies and I rode from the atv lot just north of Lake Delancy off of 19 today. The trails were as usual dusty but the forestry and ONFA can't help that. At least not yet lol. Before we went past the bathrooms a ranger stopped us and asked us to put the little stickers on our shirts. I thought he was going to mess with us at 1st but he was actually pretty cool.

We ended up riding just about the whole yellow loop. Stopped at Delancy West for a bathroom break. My 2 friends brought their gf's so you know that situation. Thank you to the guy who sold me a gallon of fuel. I thought I was full. You saved my ride today by doing that.

I think we saw the 500 pound black bear recently posted on here. He was about a 1/4 mile away and it was still big. Glad I didn't see him too much closer. The trails weren't too bad. A little whooped here and there. We stopped up at Rodman to see that trailhead. They put some nice red clay in the parking area. To me the trail system is going good. I like the structure. At least when you're on a trail system you know where to go and you're not on a numbered road. There were a few riders we passed but not real busy. I'm looking forward to another trip. Tighten up PSD, it's time to get away on a Sunday.
121  General / Where to Ride? / Re: $175 Fine at BIG SCRUB-Are you kidding me??? Anyone else? on: November 18, 2007, 09:20:27 PM
When we rode today there were orange stakes up that you were to stay inside of. Why the steel poles weren't good enough I have no idea. We didn't see a ranger at all. There were about 20 trucks at the ORV parking on 573 and 19 area. Once on the trails we didn't see but a few riders. Another thing to watch out for is a narrow trail that when it get's closer to a numbered road turns out to be numbered itself. It's like a Barney Fife trick to put a temp sign in and bust you. Actually I've been stopped and told that I was on a numbered road but given a warning because either the signs were taken down from where I came from or just never marked. When you come to a numbered road and it's a dead end get off and walk to see if there is another trail close by. If it's a long way, then turn around, go back til you can turn in the direction you saw that opening and try from there. They will bust your A$$ if you ride parallel on a # road. That's been a rule for a while so I'd adhere to that one above all others lol. For any newbies be careful around corners because there are a few out there who think blind corners mean haul a$$. I almost got hit today.
122  General / Where to Ride? / Re: no sticker on: November 18, 2007, 09:05:10 PM
Just go get it. It's only a few bucks unless you didn't pay your sales tax when you got your bike. By having the sticker and a copy of your title when asked for it will cause less problems with these rangers. I'm having a copy of my title shrunk down some and laminated so it fit's under my seat. That way if I get stopped I got it all and I can be on my way.
123  General / Where to Ride? / Re: trails on: November 18, 2007, 08:56:09 PM
We rode Some trails south of 573 and west of 19 today. Saw a few hunters but no problems with them. We moved over to let them by and gave a nice how are ya.

We stopped at the ORV are on 19 on the way home. Talked to a nice volunteer who was passing out brochures and verbal info. The bathrooms looked nice and the parking lot was well kept. Lot's of room no matter what size rig u have. The guy said he's been doing some grooming on the trails. A couple riders came up when we were talking and they confirmed the trails were nice.

One rider said that when the loop from Rodman to Big Scrub is completed it will be a nice system. I've ridden at Scrub for years and the new loop several times and enjoyed both. You're not going to be able to please every rider on this forum or who rides these trails. All I can say is, be happy there is something. The forestry doesn't owe us the privilage to be able to do this. I've been skeptical about this loop thing ever since it started but it looks like there is an effort to provide a nice area for our sport.

There's lot's of improvements to be made and hopefully it will be done. I see a good start. I think if we all give some feedback to these people and compliment them instead of 100% b!+ch!n all the time they will be willing to do more.
124  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: Boy the gas prices are high!!!!! on: November 15, 2007, 11:24:51 AM
they do have scooters now a days, 80 miles to a gallon, look real manly on one of them, or a 10 speed
Hey Don't laugh. I have a Baccio 50cc scooter and I've been using it some lol. I'm 6'2" 250 pounds but considering it I can go around for 3 bucks vs 20 bucks I'll leave my Duramax parked. I think everybody should have a scooter in the family to just run errands and stuff on.

As for all the ranting about gas prices, Billary and mortgage rates the only thing to do is try to pay your bills on time and refi asap to an affordable rate. I've got an arm too that is going to adjust in January so I'm refi'ing now so I can lock in. It was fun while the rate was low.
125  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Anybody ridden Royal Blue? on: November 13, 2007, 08:56:59 PM
PSD told me about Winrock so I was gonna check that out but then I stumbled on Royal Blue ATV. It looks really cool. Thinking of a trip for spring break next year. If anybody's been let me know.
