I remember seeing you guy's now. When I saw the little Baja 50 I remembered ya'll. We had friends in the Motel 8 and were over there a lot. I won't be dragging my camper back again after figuring out that it's cheaper to rent a cabin. I paid $50 for 2 nights in a site and it took 3.5 tanks of fuel to get up there. I can go in 2 empty. It's $55 a night for a cabin and the saved fuel will even it out.

We were up there too. It wasn't like last year (Dec. 27th-29th). The clay was soft and the trails were loose. Hopefully they get some rain because we're gonna go back in December. We were in site 31. It was right next to the woods and very quiet at night except when this guy came in, in an old class a with his genny going.
128  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: Durhamtown November 9-12 on: November 12, 2007, 01:12:11 PM
Well we're back. DTP wasn't like last December for sure. They are having a bad drought and the trails weren't like the soft clay we had before. They were more like a cobblestone road. I hope they get some rain soon because it was too dusty and the water will loosen up the dirt so they can groom the trails out some. Still better than no riding though. The people were real nice as usual and helpful. If they get some rain we may go back again in December. Last year we went 2 days after Christmas and they had just had rain and the place was packed with riders. Hopefully rain is a comin lol.

PSD always finds the cool places to ride, then calls me about the time they get shut down lol. Chuck we gotta go there. Is it a lot of trails?
130  General / Group Rides & Events / Re: Yet another Durhamtown Thread on: November 05, 2007, 10:07:10 PM
We're heading up this weekend. Got some new rubber all the way around tonight on the truck, oil changed and just washed the K&N. We're in a 31' Cougar toy hauler with red truck. Going with some neighbors and hopefully PSD and his gang are going to join us. So far we have 12 commited.

I think at this time that's irrelivant. I'm sure knowing FWC she had protective equipment. I see them in our area and they always have gear on. Thoughts go to this lady's family and co-workers.
132  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Durhamtown November 9-12 on: October 23, 2007, 10:11:22 PM
Is anybody heading to Durhamtown that weekend? We're going up the 9th and coming back Monday. I read another post where Chuck_Norris said don't go thru Union Point. You can bet we won't. That town is garbage. The sheriff and mayor and the Galaxy Food Store can shove that ho-dunk town you know where. We did our food shopping down there last year and the people were not helpful and that grocery store is a dump. We're packing all our food in Jax and not buying anything there. Most towns that small would welcome a business and try to cater to Durhamtown guests. Enough said.

We're going with 2 other families. I think we got 12 in all. The folks in the office were great last year. They treated us great and helped us any way they could. I forgot my RV hose and they sent a guy over and gave us one for free. We will be in a 31' Cougar 5th wheel hauler and our friends have the Motel 8. Looking forward to some good riding, food and talking with other riders.

Hell if this guy is what you say, he may be the one to look at. He may be doing it for the insurance money. I hope if he is that he is caught.
134  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: Ocala GPS coords on: October 17, 2007, 01:42:44 PM
We are planing to head up to Ocala for Thanksgiving weekend.  I've been there before and I'm looking for new places to ride.  Does anyone have GPS coordinates for interesting riding locations within the forest?

lmao...this thread is from 2004

What, did the coordinates change since then lmao.
135  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: Does anyone work for ford? on: September 11, 2007, 08:26:19 PM
Would u make up ur mind QT. LOL. I was thinking about buying a slightly used too but I'm afraid of that kind of truck used. The dealer offered me an 08 for arounf 40k. It's an XLT not Lariat but I can add leather for 1,100. Anybody know who would beat this? I want an 08 4x4 diesel crew cab. Ford only.
136  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: Does anyone work for ford? on: September 11, 2007, 12:41:43 PM
I'm looking for an F-250/F-350 as well. I have a 2004 Silverado w/ Duramax/Allison now. It has 141,000 highway miles on it. It's 2wd and a crew cab. LS Package and red in color. I want a 2004-2007 Ford with less than 45k miles on it. My truck is for sale if anyone is interested. It's been maintained well and is still in nice shape. Inside of bed is scratched but that's it. Interior is still nice, no stains or tears in seats. Pretty much driven on the interstate and pulled my toy hauler. I just bought a 5th wheel in May so it will have hitch holes.  Make me an offer.

137  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Labor Day ONF Ride - Our experience with the "Improvements" on: September 10, 2007, 01:16:57 PM
I just picked up a Baccio 50cc scooter a couple weeks ago. I think I'll bring it when we go riding 4 wheelers and ride it at night and on all the numbered roads since you can't ride 4 wheelers on them. I say we all sell our atv's and buy enduro's and ride all thru the forest.
138  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Fee Structure/ Rules and Regulations- Ocala National Forest- revised 9/6/7 on: September 09, 2007, 09:27:02 PM
Until they get trailheads in Phase II, yes you will.  Once new trailheads are built, then you won't.  They would like you to park under the power lines in the designated areas now.  They are having problems with day users using the best camping spots.

I can understand that Terry. Now that it's getting cooler we're planning on coming down. I guess I'll stop and get my daughter and me legaled up. I truly hope the trails we're keeping are groomed. I still think it sucks that other states are TRYING to open places to ride but FL seems to always want to close trails. I wish somebody like Durhamtown would open a place and the USFS could take the chincy areas we have left and they could shove it up their a$$eS.
139  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Labor Day ONF Ride - Our experience with the "Improvements" on: September 09, 2007, 09:09:19 PM
PSD!!!!!!!!!! What's goin on man? I haven't been on ATVFL in a while. I need to stop and see you soon. My neighbor wants to buy a new Yamaha YZ450 and come down to ONF. I was wondering if Big Scrub is still open. We'll probably stay at Big Scrub. Is the plan to have trails at Big Scrub all the way to Rodman still the plan? I hate the new fee. That's gonna suck.

Talk at ya later Chuck,

140  General / Group Rides & Events / Re: Any Father's Day ATV Rides Near Ocala? on: June 17, 2007, 05:05:05 AM
That's probably true Suzie. It's just frustrating to plop down 6 or 7 grand and then have problems on the maiden voyage. Purcells didn't help her at all and when she called Polaris they said take it to the dealer. The problem was when the warranty ran out the problems she'd had all along which should have been covered since it was existing were no longer covered. I just thought Purcells and Polaris handled the matter poorly. They basically told her you bought it, live with it. You just can't do that and expect people to come back. She ended up getting a new 660 Grizzly and it's a way better machine.
141  General / Group Rides & Events / Re: Any Father's Day ATV Rides Near Ocala? on: June 16, 2007, 05:30:34 PM
Get used to those Polaris problems my dear. My friend had a 700 Dale Jr edition and from day one she had nothing but problems and she finally traded it to a Yamaha 660 Grizzy (2007). The dealer gave her more run arounds and Polaris just blew her off like garbage. I wouldn't have a Polaris now if it was free. She had overheating problems and a couple other things. Polaris just doesn't stand behind their product.
142  General / Where to Ride? / Re: New Parking Area off Rt19 at the end of a Delancy trail loop? on: June 15, 2007, 06:45:50 PM
Hey Grizzly,

A couple of weeks ago we were riding the Delancy loops and road to the end of the trail where it dumps out on Rt. 19.  We were shocked to see a constuction project for what appears to be a new parking area.   I assume this is for ORV parking?

If so, do you have the details such as:
Opening Date?
Parking Fees?
I see the new vault toilet, will there be water available?
Are they putting in a new connector trail to the Longleaf loop?

I think they should for the following reasons:

If not, the Delancy loops will be trash in no time.
The Delancy loops are really tight (I like that!) and it is difficult to pass if you meet another group going the other way.
I think we need a wide trail to get to and from the Longleaf loop for safety!

I hope to hear that this is for ORV parking since driving to West Delancy Campground of Rt. 19 can pretty much trash one's nice truck and trailer.  Sometimes the ladies in the family go and they insist there are bathroom facilities available, otherwise I'd park somewhere other than Lake Delancy.

Also I want to say I personally don't mind at all paying $6.00 per vehicle to go riding at ONF.   It is a small price to pay to have such a great place to ride.

Brad G.

Wow, a positive comment. I've quit coming on this board for a while now because usually somebody is arguing with another or somebody is po'd at somebody. We're going to Big Scrub tomorrow for the day. I was seeing if anybody else had been down and if the rain was helping keep some of the dust down.
143  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: Eureka Pit and area closed on: May 20, 2007, 09:35:03 PM
I never thought I would say this but it seems ONFA "IS THE PROBLEM". I was led to believe that this group was going to form a relationship between off road enthusiasts and the forestry service. An informative group to let us know what we can do in the forest and what will be allowed to ride on. One stinkin ride was all that happened.
As far as the pits go I don't understand either. If they were under water all the time or supported some form of life I might understand why it closed. It's funny how the gov't tore the hell out of that place but we are going to be blamed now. That dam was the most unnatural thing to ever occur in that area.
I know a lot of people bashed Lisa but like I said before she is not all wrong. A little paranoid at times lol but she said what was coming. The thing that really really surprises me is some of the people on the board of ONFA are people I thought were for us. Maybe when they were asked to be on the board they were misinformed of the real deal. I see ONFA as a big smoke screen and guess what? The smoke is clearing and it did exactly what it was designed to do. I am not afraid to speak my peace on this. If Terry or Ida would like to discuss this in person to the people who joined this organization I would respectfully do so. I haven't been on this forum in a couple months and I come back to the same story but worse.
144  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: Eureka Pit and area closed on: May 20, 2007, 05:44:29 PM
I have been kinda absent from this site and riding lately because I've been busy with work. It seems that more and more areas are closing down and we haven't heard crap from our good friends at ONFA which I'm a member. Are the Big Scrub trails still a go or is that closing down too? I will not settle for the stupid a$$ trails up at Delancy. Nothing but a bunch of whooped out $hit. I thought we were getting a big loop from Big Scrub up to Delancy. NOTHING has been done for atv riders except inconveniences. I have only been going to ONF since 03 but it seems we won't have anything before it's over. I have never disagreed that there needs to be a handle on atv's in ONF. I've seen some f'ed up stuff in a few years. I just want what is fair, which is a good trail system that can handle the amount of riders we have. I, as others have paid for my green sticker to only hear over and over riding areas are closing. In the past year I bought my daughter a new 125 Grizzly and we just got our new toy hauler last weekend. Another 28k spent to play in this sport. Why can't Florida follow in the footsteps of other states who have provided riding areas. Rodman and Eureka would be great places to have courses like DTP has. Mike built several of them and people enjoy that. Those could have been the places to ride hard and get on your bike and the trails could be for fun riding. That's just my observation of the whole thing. I'm sure some will disagree with me. There is a lot of people spending money in this sport from bikes, clothes, campers and other things. These are jobs mofo!! which we need people working. Just give us some areas and let us have fun and then stfu.
145  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Durhamtown for Memorial Day weekend... on: May 08, 2007, 09:52:41 PM
I don't understand how when something good like DTP provides an economy for that broken down city why the cops would screw with people. If any thing they should be out there trying to guide people in to town.

We went to that grocery store in town and the dollar store. That is a lame excuse for a grocery store. It smells bad and is dirty. Why we didn't shop at home and load the camper up I'll never know. We're going back again this year some time and I'll guarantee you I won't stop in Union Point.

I wonder if Mike has thought of opened a little store there that you can at least buy eggs and bacon and other little supplies.
146  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: FATHER OF COLUMBINE STUDENT Darrell Scott Testimony - THIS IS A MUST READ on: May 03, 2007, 08:40:56 PM
Dreth is right except one thing. If a man rapes he should have his u know what either cut or shot off. I just got an email today about an 81 y/o woman in Australia who shot the d!ck$ off the 2 guys who raped her granddaughter. The police are trying to figure out what to do with her. The city where it happened wants to elect her as mayor. I say bring her to the U.S.

About the only thing good about the VT killings is we don't have to see that scumbag sitting on trial. Too bad somebody didn't listen to the crap he was saying before this happened.
147  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: Why do we have to fight for riding spots? on: April 30, 2007, 09:20:47 PM

We finally just went out and bought our own land to ride on, does that mean it will be there for the next 10 years, well at least I can hope so.....

Don't tell anyone Pride what ur doing out there with that land. They'll just tax the hell out of you until you can't afford it anymore.

It pisses me off to have to go out of town to ride when there are plenty of areas around that it will not hurt to ride on.
148  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Why do we have to fight for riding spots? on: April 28, 2007, 04:57:53 PM
I keep seeing our fellow atv'ers going to West VA, TN, KY and of course Durhamtown. Why is it that other states WANT to make riding areas for people and we're fighting for a few miles in ONF? I'm sick of it. I know these states have vast amount of woods and undeveloped woods but we deserve some places to go too. We are a big part of the state economy whether or not Tallahassee knows it or not. We buy atv's, mx bikes and toy haulers. People are working because of what we do.

I personally just bought a $36k Toy Hauler. Will it be used to go to ONF? Most likely not because the screwball idiots keep taking more and more from us. I will most likely go to other states to ride because of the problems we have riding here. It's always a pile of $h!t trying to have a good time in ONF. Can't do this, can't do that. Just give us an f'ing place to ride like they do at Hatfield McCoy and leave us the hell alone. We get the damn trail system and we still may lose that. I don't get it.
149  General / Where to Ride? / Re: ONF and Save our big scrub on: March 31, 2007, 08:27:42 PM
Lisa this is a shame. I hardly rode on ONF this cooler season. Can't really say we have winter anymore lol. We camped at Scrub once and I think that was it. I guess what these groups want is for people like me to get disgusted with the trails and just quit coming down. I'm looking into the places like Durhamtown, Hatfield McCoy Trails and this new place in TN. One would think we could have a few places in FL to ride on land and not have to worry like we do if it's going to get shut down. What I'd like to know is where are the lobbyists for the toy hauler/atv manufacturers? I have bought 2 toy haulers now and looking at the Cougar 5th wheel with garage as we speak. These guys need to get involved in this too. I was looking at purchasing a 660 Grizzly earlier this year but now I'm holding off to see what happens with ONF. If there is no place to ride this seems to me that sales on all the items we buy will drop off.

I tell you what, I think we have a real good governor right now and it may be time to ask him for help not only keeping what we have but to get us some more areas too. I know ONF is federal but there are places that could be used for atv riding besides ONF. Like I said we went to Durhamtown and we're looking into a couple other places to go. It was so nice riding up there and knowing exactly what was going on, on the trails. The atv sport is a huge economic factor in this state. I feel like the skateboarders who are now labeled criminals. We just have to take charge on this. I love riding in ONF and want to continue.

150  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: ONF accident on: March 08, 2007, 11:53:06 PM
Couey needs to be drug thru the forest behind some of these fast sport quad riders lol. That sob doesn't deserve the chance to have another breath. We will never learn that these types need to have their nuts cut off. I have a 9 y/o daughter and I can't imagine how this man feels who lost his child.
