26  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: Deer season at Ocala on: November 05, 2011, 07:14:13 AM
I'm sure even wearing orange, I'll get a few fingers thrown at me.  Like I said most of the hunters seemed pretty pissed we were there.  I was worried about parking my truck there all day to be honest

Dave, when we first started riding ONF in 03 I used to carry my daughter on front who was 6 at the time. We'd be riding down a narrow trail and here would be some jackass coming towards us in a truck full blast even though I know he saw a kid on the bike.

I'm sure I'll get some flack on this, but those guys aren't hunters out there running dogs. Most of them are hunt club rejects that nobody wants in their group. I say most. I'm sure there are some good guys out there but when you purposely play chicken with somebody with a kid on a 4 wheeler with a 3k pound truck that's an idiot.

The funniest thing I ever saw with the hunters vs atv'ers was one day a group of guys on 4 wheelers were riding on the powerline near Big Scrub CG and a dog ran in front of them. The hunters chased the guys down claiming they purposely tried to hit the dog and a fight broke out. There musta been 20 guys beating the living crap outta each other. The hunters were firing guns in the air (those bullets do come down btw) to break the fight up. We decided to head for the woods and about 2 hours later we pass by scrub and there had to be 20 law enforcement vehicles with all these guys fighting in handcuffs. The only one's arrested were the guys who fired guns. It looked like a boxing match guys all covered in blood.

Whenever you could ride wherever I would just go the opposite direction when I saw hunters. Now you don't have that option. ONF is for everyone and I hope the hunters don't hurt somebody just trying to enjoy something just like them.

Oh crap, does this mean no camo jackets lol.
28  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: Deer season at Ocala on: November 02, 2011, 04:40:17 AM
I've been riding out there since 2003 and I've never understood why atv'ers and hunters have to use the same areas. We have the same right to use the forest as the hunters. The place is like 300,000 something acres and they have to be in that one area?

When did Delancy get bathrooms? I know they have toilets inside but there are no showers. There's also a couple campgrounds near Hog Valley Trail.
30  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: swivel wheels on: September 26, 2011, 10:47:01 PM
I've got a swivelwheel made by the factory you can just buy from me. I want $1,500. It has a hitch for a pickup receiver, a spare tire and the hitch you mount for a camper. The extra hitch was around $300 extra.

I've been voting with 3 email accounts all week. Glad they got it.

We go every year between Christmas and New Years. Usually cold as hell but lots of fun.
35  General / Where to Ride? / Re: ONF on: June 28, 2011, 05:22:24 PM
I started riding there about the same time and I never thought of a destination when we rode. We just got on the 4 wheelers and took off and whenever we had to put the reserve tank on was usually time to head in. They added the trail to the 88 store and kept the blue sink pond in the big scrub loop. Unless somebody wants to take a chance and open a place what is out there? I definately think there's way more trails out there that could be ridden and with 4 wheelers on them it would actually save the forestry from cutting them back. I think opening a pit back up and making an area for the sport quads would definately bring some more riders.

On a last minute trip, we rode the centennial trail today.  Very nice ride and the trails were a 8 out of 10 in my book.  Very few whoops.  This trail seems easier to ride than the north trails since there are not as many blind spots to see traffic coming at you.  We parked at the TH before big scrub campgrounds a little off of powerline rd.  Is there any other TH you can access this trail without driving miles down a fire rd?  Not that I care, but the truck took more abuse than the quad did to get back there.
I need to get your number Dave. I would've loved to have gone. I'm really glad to read that the trails are in good shape. With the rain we had was it brutal dusty?
37  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: Guy stabbed at Horse Hole Creek Mud Pits in Inglis, North Florida on: June 02, 2011, 11:17:09 AM
Similar incident happened at Ginnie Springs. 2 guys fighting, guy gets in between and gets his neck cut and died a couple days later. People get stupid, that's for sure.
38  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: My $.02 on: May 09, 2011, 06:03:06 PM
I hear that. Lets get some traffic moving here and help everybody keep it going.
39  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: My $.02 on: May 09, 2011, 10:43:37 AM
Unfortuately fuel prices have hurt a lot of businesses that specialize in a hobby. I'm sure Durhamtown has been slow lately just has any place requiring a lot of fuel to get to. Businesses have just got to be more creative to get people in the door. Even though fuel is a dollar higher it adds to the person doing the hobby plus it now adds to these venues spending more on everything to provide the customers with good service. If Paul or anybody else has to advertise or whatever it takes to get customers on his property then so be it.

I'd love to see this site come back for what it's intended to do. It's been nothing but a political pissing match for a while. Mr B has given us a great place to communicate and we need to respect that.

Proof that Osama Bin Laden Used Facebook...

Holy crap, I'm laughing so hard I was crying. That $hit is funny.
42  General / Where to Ride? / Re: ONF on: May 02, 2011, 07:36:58 AM
I never thought I'd like the trail system but I do. I like others wish the trails were one way but I'm thankful we have someplace to ride. I look forward to the 2 systems getting connected. I think it may get some more riders if that was done.
43  General / Where to Ride? / Re: ONF on: May 01, 2011, 09:47:37 PM
Thanks for all you are doing and keeping us posted. I think once the trail is open more people will come out. The last time we used the bathrooms at Big Scrub it was clean as all get out. I was like this is at a campground? Once again thanks for all you do.

They did some service work on a friend of mines bike. It is an enduro type I guess you would say. Anyway he was driving it home and heard a lot of rattling. Turned it around and went back. They didn't put new oil in and said too bad he shoulda checked it before he left. Another friend bought a polaris 800 Dale Jr edition and it kept overheating. After tons of problems and no help she traded it for a 660 Grizzly. I wouldn't buy a spark plug from them.
45  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: Unbelievable... on: April 14, 2011, 11:00:07 PM
I remember the days when guys on here were talking about meeting up and having a good time. It sucks that Bones works his ass off keeping this site going and like you said people have turned this into a political site to fight with each other. I guess since I'm the only one complaining so maybe I should be the one to go.
46  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: Unbelievable... on: April 14, 2011, 09:33:40 PM
I remember when this was a fun place to come to. Maybe Bones can build a website called pissin match.com. Huh
47  General / Where to Ride? / Re: ONF on: March 17, 2011, 07:55:05 PM
Just park at the trailhead located off 19. There's usually a volunteer there with trail info.
48  General / Where to Ride? / Re: ONF on: March 17, 2011, 04:19:30 PM
There is another parking lot off 316 I think it is but if you don't want to go to Rodman or Delancey (yes it is down a dirt road that is bumpy) then park at the one off 19. The other one I mentioned off 316 is the trailhead for the pipeline trail. IMO the best riding is going to be the western loops.
49  General / Where to Ride? / Re: ONF on: March 17, 2011, 04:07:09 PM
That's great news Chuck. The reason I suggested the Tobacco patch was all those trails had just been groomed that day. I mean we were the 1st group over them after the box blade or whatever went through there.

I'm looking forward to a ride this weekend.
50  General / Where to Ride? / Re: ONF on: March 17, 2011, 08:04:29 AM
I went down about 3 weeks ago. It had rained the night before and wasn't real dusty. The best thing to do is park at Rodman, Delancey or the lot of of 19 and head out to the Pipeline, Tobacco and Hog Valley Trails. The Delancey Trail sucks. It's all wooped out between Delancey and Rodman. May go this weekend.
