I'm busy the next couple weekends but maybe we can hook up for a ride and find some dry trails.

Durhamtown is perfect. Just went a couple weeks ago. There is muddy trail areas and a mud pit you can ride in until you're bike weighs a million pounds lol. I saw a lot of riders burying their bikes on the trails but I would rather not see that but to each his own. The people there are second to none.

I hear you. Was glad my daughter didn't go as I could hardly get through some of the water myself. I will see what I can find out about the northern area.
55  General / Where to Ride? / Osceola Trails on: January 31, 2011, 07:48:26 AM
Has anybody ridden Osceola? We went there yesterday and a lot of the trails were under water. Had a lot of fun but most of the trails just dead end. I also recommend a gps as it's not marked really well and the ranger was out of maps.

We rode the Hog Pen area near Olustee. Has anyone been north of I-10? Is there a tunnel linking trails north and south of the interstate?

Headed to Osceola today around noon.

Back at ya Bones. We're heading up to Durhamtown Tuesday for a couple days. Hoping the cold weather gives us a break.
58  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Lake Delancy on: December 20, 2010, 12:53:54 PM
I rode the Delancey trails yesterday. We put in at Rodman and about a 1/2 mile from there it's pretty whooped out but expected because of the traffic. Went down the east yellow to Delancey CG then went over to the pipeline and up thru the Tobacco Patch. It was great riding on the parts we rode. Most will knock the trail system but I find it pretty enjoyable of course I'm riding a Rancher so if you're on a sport quad and you want to fly it might not be as much fun.

There was a few trucks parked at the TH but we only saw maybe 7 people. Has anybody tried out the Wandering Wiregrass trail and how far is it from the S.R. 19 trailhead station?
59  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Lake Delancy on: December 16, 2010, 08:02:07 AM
I haven't been in a few months but it was pretty good last time I went. I heard there is a new trail over to Elite. I think you can go over to get something to eat there if you want.

A lot of people hate the trail system because there's rules and no longer can you just ride on any place you want. It definately changed the place and there's not as many people going anymore. IMO it's better than no place to ride.

Anybody going to be there? Thought about Carolina Adventure World. Anybody been there? Figure we'd hit what we know.
61  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Ride from Lake Oklawaha RV park on: September 02, 2010, 03:03:34 PM
This is great news. When it cools off some I plan on making a trip down and staying there. I used to like going Friday night to Big Scrub and chillin out but it got to where people were sitting across from there shooting guns in the middle of the night and doing donuts in the road. Didn't feel too safe anymore.

How long would it take to drive over to Salt Springs from there?
62  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Ride from Lake Oklawaha RV park on: August 03, 2010, 09:35:29 PM
Maybe it's just in that area. I'm sure they have tent campers. I wish they'd put water and electric in at the sites they have in the forest.
63  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Ride from Lake Oklawaha RV park on: August 02, 2010, 10:26:43 AM
I called the cg and with AAA discount it's about $27 a night total. A little pricey but having the bath house and ammenities it's not bad. There's another cg operated by the Greenway something or another that is $22 with hookups. It used to be $11 but they doubled it overnight.

I was told also that there's no tent or pop up camping in the 4 wheeler area.
64  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Ride from Lake Oklawaha RV park on: August 02, 2010, 07:55:57 AM
This sounds like a really nice place. Hopefully nobody will screw it up. I'm sure the only reason they let 4 wheelers back in is because they need business. The bathrooms and ammenities look nice. I'm going to call about pricing because their site doesn't say.
65  General / Where to Ride? / Re: night riding in Ocala on: August 02, 2010, 07:33:06 AM
Haven't posted in a while. Are people saying the forestry is actually trying to get riders on the trails? It was always my impression they wanted us out. I went a few times last year when it was cooler and did the BIg Scrub trail. Pretty nice ride and the bathrooms at BSCG were spotless. Looking forward to some riding when it cools down some.

That is the Foxtrot. I've stayed there a few times. I can't wait to go back.

I prefer the Fox Trot. Will call tomorrow to check availability.

We usually go the day after Christmas but I think we're going to go earlier this year. Might have to go a few days and meet you guys. Christmas was pretty cold and crowded last year.

Been to all but 2 of them. Ususally go on Saturday but had to go Sunday this time. I hear they had 500 on Saturday and 600 on Sunday. Pretty damned good. They were doing a atv race in the pit. $5 to get in and they paid back 100% but haven't seen it in last couple months. The DEP made them plant a bunch of trees out there where the atv track was. Not sure why there but you never know.

Thanks for the reply. We will come in April if all goes well with plans. Kinda thinking of trading to a Fun Mover so we would stay in that.
71  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: Hatfield McCoy Trails in 2010 on: January 11, 2010, 11:12:13 PM
I'd like to come up this spring but I'm confused as to what trails we would enjoy and where to stay. Would be my uncle, 12 y/o daughter and myself. All riding 4 wheelers. Is there a package type deal or do you just wing it?
72  General / ATV Florida Open Discussion / Re: GPS for ATV's ??? on: January 11, 2010, 10:44:20 PM
I bought a Garmin geko back in 04 and ordered a handlebar mount for it on Ebay, It's nothing fancy but it is very simple. Used it for years in Ocala when you could ride anywhere. Still a good thing to have because in emergencies you can always give the coordinates to where you are.

I too got her email so plan on splitting it with me fool. I sent her the sum of 5k U.S. Dollars via Western Union. Hopefully she stops by here first.
74  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Big Scrub 11/27 on: November 23, 2009, 02:59:20 PM
Have never been to Croom and not sure if I will ever go because it's a good ride for us and for the money it costs for the permit I don't think $50 a bike is worth it for a weekend trip. Now if it was a daily fee I would do it. There are hundreds of miles of trails in ONF that are available to ride on. There's no reason they couldn't use the fire trails like before. Big Scrub CG is pretty bare right now. It used to have some trees and grass. It has no character at all. They could do some sprucing up with the fees they take in. You can see all the old trails we used to be able to ride and they are flat and covered in weeds and pinestraw which actually creates a tenderbox for fires. Hopefully the forestry will see a potential in a well managed trail system that will provide a good environment for kids and families.
75  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Big Scrub 11/27 on: November 23, 2009, 02:03:05 PM
I have ridden 2 up since the rule was done even though I didn't like it only because I didn't want to get busted. There were no rangers that day. Like many have posted here they did this to get rid of the haul assers and abusers. Unfortunately trails for people who want to ride fast weren't created. There are a few states that promote trails for OHV's and welcome them. Florida not so much. I hope that changes. There's a lot more trails that could be created at ONF that would make people come and enjoy them instead of complaining but as others mentioned before that's what they don't want. The trail system can be profitable for the DOF if they would get someone OHV friendly on the board.
